History:
Professor Aspen was never one to stay in a lab and examine Fakemon from behind a pane of glass, even in his earliest days as a mere researcher beneath Professor Linden.

For the longest time he could be found on the first scene of a rumored discovery, or at an unearthing of a fossil, digging away with intense care beside his colleagues.

Even as the years swept by, his drive to continue in the field has endured, and indeed he actively makes dives beneath the oceans around the Izaga region to acquire new samples.

He is foremost an expert on fossil resurrection, having lead the return of no less than eight species never before seen by human eyes to a living state, and his own partner Fakemon, Cressus, was the very first of them.

Due to certain legality issues, though he resides within Western Izaga, any would-be-trainer he encounters and takes a liking to may be approved on-the-spot regardless of which side of the sundered continent he is in at that time.

In more recent times, he is among the forefront of trainers actively opposing the Cult of Izaya and their genocidal approach to their goals, both lending knowledge to the revival of Hayasusa and the Hokuto Brothers as well as engaging the Cult's followers in battle.
